Cups series ANov 2024
The art of repetition— After spending so long having fun with clay and playing with different forms, I wanted to test myself by creating a series of simple handled mugs, all the same size. When you’re used to throwing for fun, throwing with precision can feel a little frustrating. To make things even more challenging, I decided to pull the handles by hand. Calculating, throwing, and measuring turned out to be easier than expected, but pulling uniform handles was a real challenge.

I used a clay body with more grog than usual which made attaching the handles easier. I then applied a porcelain slip to the exterior and glazed it in a matte white glaze to create a smooth texture.
